Wildflower magic
Wildflower mix
With over 30 native, mainly perennial wild herbs such as yarrow, cornflower, cornflower, meadow hawksbill, meadow bedstraw, stiff-haired dandelion, meadow oxeye daisy, corn poppy, self-heal, meadow sage, pigeon scabious, red campion, broad-leaved thyme, goat's beard and many more. Swiss inland ecotypes from biological propagation.
Produces abundant flowers from the second year onwards, also very suitable as a bee pasture. The perennial wild herbs develop slowly, only form leaf rosettes in the year of sowing and only flower from the second year onwards.
Location: Wild herbs prefer a sunny location with well-drained soil without waterlogging.
Sowing: in a finely crumbly, well-seated seedbed from the end of March to mid-May, and from the end of July to the beginning of September. Watch for snail damage. The mixture contains seed aids for better spreading accuracy.
Seed quantity: 8g/ m2
Care:
- In the year of sowing: If there is a lot of weed pressure, cut regularly with the lawn mower in raised position as soon as the weeds are about 20 cm high. If there is little weed pressure, cut when the annual species are flowering (poppies, cornflowers).
- Subsequent years: Mow 1-3 times with a scythe when most of the wild herbs have finished flowering, around mid-June, and in late summer. Cutting height approx. 8 cm. Allow the clippings to dry on the surface and then remove them.
